Jedi Jim – the dog’s b******s? #apprentice

It's dog eat dog on The Apprentice

The Apprentice was trending on Twitter again as Ellie and Vincent went walkies in a surprise double firing, after Team Logic made a complete dog’s dinner of their pet food marketing task on tonight’s episode of BBC’s The Apprentice.

But, amazingly, ‘Jedi Jim’ Eastwood escaped again, albeit this time with his tail between his legs. “I don’t know what you’re made of – brains or bollocks!” exclaimed Lord Sugar, as Jim light-sabered his way out of the boardroom.

With the blame for the task failure clearly attributable to the ‘Every Dog’ branding – and Jim proudly taking credit for the choice of brand name – it looked like an absolute no-brainer for losing project manager Vince. Bring Jim back into the boardroom! So, did he? No – of course he didn’t! Jim somehow mind-tricked him into bringing back Ellie and Natasha!

Lord Sugar was obviously bemused – “This fella Jim – he seems to have some sort of control over people”. And so he does. But will it be enough to get him through to the final? Let’s see.

Who do you want to win?

I didn’t overly like the way Jim so readily accepts credit and deflects blame, but he was too easy a scapegoat here. He contributed an idea in brainstorming which was seized upon by Vincent. The whole idea of brainstorming is to throw ideas into the pot, no matter how absurd – it’s about quantity as much as quality. Having said that. he didn’t have a great week and Sugar absolutely has his card marked.

I have my eye on two candidates right now. Helen has been quiet but efficient – not sure if I can see her as a winner yet as she hasn’t proven herself in any way, but she’s good top five material. And Tom (last week’s winge & bow selling aside) has a knack of seeing right to the basic flaws in his team’s plans. It’s not really his fault that a succession of self-centred PMs have chosen to ignore him. The fact he is an inventor must also be of interest to Sugar in terms of finding someone to invest in. If Sugar fancies himself as some kind of down-market Dragon, then Tom’s the man for me.

The Apprentice: Venture are top dogs, two fired after pet task cat-astrophe

    • He definitely didn’t do himself any favours last night but sadly it’s a ‘dog eat dog’ world! I have to say I do like Jim but agree that Tom is the one to watch.
